Overview

This qualification is aimed at the person who is responsible for the health and safety of the team, as well as for achieving production targets.

In setting and maintaining world-class standards, the methods of training required for these qualifications are far more onerous than those required by the old government certificates.

Working towards the QCTO system, the knowledge component is provided as short courses with written assignments, together with logbooks that record and confirm on-the-job practical training, mini-projects and specified work experience, all of which are required before assessment by registered assessors.

It applies across underground and surface operations, including small-scale mines.
